Does anyone know any techniques to cure a stutter?
I have a stutter and it is driving me crazy. It is preventing me from talking to people and socialising. I would love to have a conservation with someone, without looking like a total idiot. Also in the future I am gonna need to communicate. I know I can go speech therapy, but I can’t ask my parents, because they will think I’m weird and they don’t really like me. Is there any way I can cure my stammer, like any techniques, drugs, anything?

Today, I just read an article about a stutterer who over came it and became an award winning speech maker. The article said it is a mind over matter thing and he kept practicing one sentence over and over saying it out loud over and over until he was able to get through the whole sentence perfect. He sounded like it took a lot of work, but he did it. Oh yea, he did learn this technique by going to a speech therapists.
You first really should ask your parents, of course they like you, why wouldn´t they?
Anyway, this may sound weird: but I always find that singing the stuff you want to say, helps te stutter to go away. But I understand you cant just start singing in peoples faces when you want to say something, so maybe speech therapy is the best thing to consider. However, you can try singing words if you’re alone.
Good luck!
my dad told me he used to stutter when he was younger
one day, his mom slapped him on his back pretty hard and he never stuttered again
you can do that or ….. just go to a speech therapist
Since I too have a Speech impediment, I advise to not look into Medication. The side effects tend to be harsh. Practice always. For a Stutter, talking to a mirror, may sound odd, but in this you can see your own mouth movements. Look for ways to be vocal more. Radio speak, one of the reasons why I’d want to return to my chosen Sport; Air-soft! I also had problems before, since I do by nature try to speak too fast! The best solution was to slow down, to reflect more and too give my mouth plenty of time to speak right and be intelligible, then having to repeat myself much, wasting more time that way. :( I do recommend Speech Therapy. I still go to one myself, but I do use other techniques to get by! Good Luck! :D

Contact The Stuttering Foundation of America as that is where our family got help. Their book “Self Therapy for the Stutterer” worked wonders after working through it step by step.
I am a certified speech-language pathologist. There are certain techniques that you can use to help you not to stutter. There are also different types of stuttering, Repetitions (bbb), blocks(where it’s like air gets stuck or your stuck on a word), pro-longations(a………pple) There is also the emotional side to work on with stuttering. Sorry to say, but there is not a “cure” for stuttering. There are just techniques and devices that will help you not to stutter or if you start stuttering to get out of the stutter. If you don’t want to ask your parents about speech-therapy-try these techniqes. The first thing is to slow your speech rate down. (Talk slower than you normally would) This allows time for you tongue and lips to go where they normally would to decrease the stutter. Another technique is to add more air at the beginning of a sentence: For example if you knew you usually get stuck on the word “I” you could start you sentence almost as “hi” by blowing out more air at the beginning. This also could work on “b” words or others like: Making the “b” more soft instead of hard. Relaxation is also another key component. The more relaxed you are the less stuttering you will do. If you find you in a stutter you can use a pull-out: For example if you get stuck on the word “boy” like b.b.b.b.oy you make the “b” longer like a prolongation.
There is so much to work on with stuttering and it takes effort. With help for a speech-language pathologist most people may not even know you have a stuttering problem.
If you go to school-there will be a speech path at your school. Talk with them.
