I started having a REALLY unsevere stutter in 2nd grade. Now I’m in 7th. Help?

I wasn’t born one. I was VERY fluent was I was born. My parents and I had a MAJOR move when I was in 2nd grade. In my new school I had no friends, and people bullied me. I suffered a whole year. When my parents moved again and I was happy again, my stutter was mostly gone, but it was still there. Now in middle school it’s gotten worse. I’ve been trying to do tongue twisters. I’ve even borrowed “Self Therapy for the Stutter” book, but it doesn’t help. I’ve read the whole book. I really want to overcome it. It also kind of comes and goes. Sometimes I would stutter on this certain word, sometimes another. Sometimes I would get some really minor blocks, sometimes no stuttering at all. Please help. This has been ruining my life. I’m a pretty smart and popular person in school but some of my friends are beginning to think I’m weird because I’m afraid to participate in class and I don’t talk in a conversation. School’s hard on me, especially presentations. Thanks!!!
I’m a girl by the way. Not a guy.
but I knew this 7 year old who had a severe stutter I liked him a lot and didn’t mind his stutter at all.

you should see a doctor and if its not like medical like that then you can overcome it. Its not about reading books. Its about support from your family and friends saying “Try your best to get rid of it, and if you can’t, well still love you.” Talk to them about that.

hey

i used to have a stutter. try seeing a speech therapist.

and whatever you do don’t become withdrawn or too shy - the more conversations you have the more confident you’ll be

My brother had that problem and he went to speech therapy when he was in like 4th grade and now he talks completely normal. I think a lot of people do it when they are nervous and don’t have a lot of confidence. Go see a speech therapist because I’ve heard that it can get worse as time goes on.

Stutters are the most ADORABLE things ever! It gives you a sense of inosence! its so cute! keep it and ull have girls all over you.
If you are a girl, then its also adorable!!! still so inosent and cute!
love always,
ALEX

I have a similar problem.
When I was younger, about 2, I was not talkative. I could talk, but I preferred not to. I went to therapy. I started talking, pretty fluently. I noticed in fourth grade, when a lot of my friends ditched me [I don't want to get into the details, but I did absolutely nothing wrong.], I started stuttering. I’ve gotten worse and worse since then. I’m in seventh grade now.
What I’m trying to do is to talk more, and think about every single syllabol [I totallly blanked on that spelling]. It’s been helping me a little bit. I hope this has helped a little.

You must have nothing else to do but ask about stuttering on Yahoo Q & A. If you’d spend more time working on the things that will make it better, you would have no need to talk about stuttering any more. Then, you might be able to help someone else with the same problem. Do some research instead of constantly asking about it. Spend some time reading “Advice to those who stutter” “A Stutterer’s Story” the research articles at http://www.stutteringhelp.org etc…

go to http://www.stutteringhelp.org; that’s where I got help
